NIMML Director Invited Speaker of A.L. Bortree Lecture Series at Penn State

October 9th 2013, the Department of Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences invited Dr. Bassaganya-Riera to give a lecture entitled “Systems Modeling of Immune Responses to Gut Pathogens” as a part of the Distinguished A.L. Bortree Lecture Series at Pennsylvania State University, State College, PA. Dr. Bassaganya-Riera met with Faculty members and students at Penn State conducting nutritional immunology and molecular medicine research related to dietary manipulation of the gut microbiome, modulation of nuclear receptors (VDR, PPAR a, g, d, AHR) by naturally occurring compounds, metabolomics experts, and discussed possible research collaborations with the NIMML at Virginia Tech.
